Metalbox Switch 3 Tutorial

Congratulations with your new Metalbox Switch 3.
It took quite some time and effort to develop this product.
Each device was manually constructed and has a unique personality.

Charging

  1. Connect to charger. Any MacBook or phone Type-C charger will work. Red light appears.
  2. Charge until red light changes to green.
  3. Disconnect from charger. Device is ready to be used.

Turning on device

  1. Press "on/off" button – light around "on/off" button blinks.
  2. Connect device to phone / computer. Light around "on/off" stops blinking.
  3. Press any of the big buttons – light around "on/off" disappears.
  4. Press any of big buttons again – light around "on/off" appears and disappears.
  5. Device is working properly.

Sleeping mode

After 10 minutes of inactivity device falls into sleep to save battery.
Device also falls to sleep when the connected phone goes to sleep and sends a Suspend signal.
To wake up device:

  1. Press any of the big buttons.
  2. The light around the "on/off" button appears.
  3. Device is awake.

Turning off device

  1. Press "on/off" button. Device will turn off. No visible changes will happen.
  2. Press any of the big buttons. Nothing happens.
  3. Device is off.


Instructions


Connecting to iPhone / iPad (iOS)
  1. Connect and pair Metalbox in Bluetooth settings

  2. Go to Accessibility / Switch control
  3. Tap on Switches

  4. Add new switch / External
  5. Press the Central button on Metalbox and give it a name

  6. On the next screen, assign "Select Item"
  7. Repeat step 5 for the Left button (assign as "Move to previous item")
  8. Repeat step 5 for the Right button (assign as "Move to next item")

  9. Go back to Switch Control, select Scanning Style / Manual

  10. Go back to Switch Control and enable it
  11. Device is now ready to work with iOS. Try pressing the big shiny buttons.

Connecting to Android
  1. On your Android phone, open Bluetooth settings
  2. Tap "Pair new device". Find and pair your Metalbox device. No need to grant contact permissions.

  4. Navigate to "Settings / Assign switches for scanning"
  5. Open "Select" and tap the Central button on the device to assign.
  6. Repeat for the other buttons. All 3 buttons must be connected. Screenshot 2024-11-13 at 18.25.29.png
  7. Tap buttons on the device – your phone should respond.
  8. Enable "Use Switch Access"

  10. Device is now ready to work with Android. Try pressing the big shiny buttons.

Connecting to Mac
  1. Turn on Metalbox. Connect the device in Bluetooth settings
  2. Go to Accessibility / Switches
  3. Disable Auto Scanning

  4. Click + under Switches / Optional
  5. Assign buttons on the device one by one
